An ordinance to require someone seeking an unrestricted gaming license to build 100 rooms passed its first reading at the Douglas County commission on Thursday. There wasn't much in the way of opposition.

Genoans will discuss next year's Genoa Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival at their regular meeting on Tuesday night. Hopefully, that will help resolve whatever issues are left and they can move forward, since they're already late.

Any business you need to do with the county over the next few days needs to be done today. Monday is a holiday for the government, banks and for The Record-Courier. You can get a marriage license on Monday though. For that information, call 782-0915 or 596-7290.

Today will be the coolest day we see for a while. Expect the high to reach 82 degrees under sunny skies. Saturday won't be much different, but the temperatures will start to heat up on Sunday, hitting 92 by Monday.
