Fourth of July activities at Lake Tahoe resulted in three times the arrests than in Carson Valley, but officials still called the holiday weekend "fairly quiet."
"It was a fairly quiet weekend for us, with no major problems, although the crowds at the casinos and the beaches (Elks Point and Zephyr Cove) were larger than last year," said sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jim Halsey.
There were four arrests for battery and four for trespassing at the Lake compared to none in either category in the Valley.
Four citations were issued for minor consuming at the Lake with none in Valley.
On Sunday evening, personnel from the Carson and Washoe County Sheriff's offices, Sparks Police Department, Washoe County School District Police Department and the Nevada Highway Patrol set up a DUI checkpoint on State Route 28 near Ponderosa.
According to Trooper Chuck Allen, 1,840 vehicles were screened, and 26 drivers were directed to the secondary screening area.
Of those 26, four were arrested for DUI and one minor was arrested and charged with being in possession/consumption of alcohol.
