All of Auburn Court turned out on Monday morning to look after Neil and Marian Powers, whose home was damaged by fire.
They both escaped the home, whose garage was aflame, without injury.
The couple was tended to by a group of neighbors, who made them a sandwich, brought drinks and comfort to the couple as firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Indian Hills General Improvement District Denise Pierini was among the neighbors who visited with the Powers after the fire.
She said people in the neighborhood are avid walkers, who greet each other in the morning.
The neighborliness extended beyond the boundaries of Auburn Court on Monday.
Volunteer firefighters from Johnson Lane and Genoa joined East Fork career staff in the effort to put the fire out. Those are neighbors who give of themselves all the time.
There's one more neighbor involved in the battle on Auburn Court that saw a fire go from inferno to out in a few minutes.
That's the Carson City Fire Department, whose Engine 3 arrived at the scene early in the fight.
Their efforts helped keep the blaze from spreading to other neighbors' homes in Auburn Court.
