A 33-year-old Gardnerville man admitted Wednesday that he didn't stop his 8-year-old daughter from viewing pornographic movies he was watching on his computer.
Derik Henry Haase pleaded guilty to contributory neglect and was sentenced to 90 days in Douglas County Jail, suspended, and placed on a year's probation.
"How does an 8-year-old watch pornographic movies on a computer?" asked Judge Jim EnEarl.
Attorney Tod Young said Haase was watching movies in his room and his daughter was watching behind him.
"He admits he failed to supervise her well enough to see what she was watching," Young said.
According to the criminal complaint, the behavior occurred between May 2009 and April 20 while the little girl was visiting her father.
Haase's ex-wife, who shares custody, contacted authorities when the little girl began exhibiting inappropriate behavior she said she observed in the movies.
