Douglas High School graduate Gina Sipin earned a skill point certificate in screen printing at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo. June 20-25.

A student of Douglas High screen printing teacher Rita Borselli, Sipin was one of more than 5,600 students in the competition, which saw 96 hands-on occupation and leadership contests designed, run and judged by industry experts using industry standards.

For the fourth year, high scorers in the contests received Skill Point Certificates. The Skill Point Certificate was awarded in 90 occupational and leadership areas to students who achieved a high score defined by industry.

"This is the SkillsUSA partnership at its best," said SkillsUSA Executive Director Tim Lawrence. "Students, instructors and industries are working together to ensure America has a skilled work force and every student excels.
