An electrician working in the boiler room of Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School Tuesday morning received a serious electrical shock and was transported by helicopter to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.

According to District Chief Financial Officer Holly Luna, the individual was not a district employee, but rather a subcontractor working on the school.

"The name is being withheld pending notification," she said.

County and state agencies were called to the scene of the incident a little after 9 a.m., including Occupational Safety & Health Administration officials.

"We're fully cooperating with all investigations," Luna said.

She declined to comment further on the incident or on the condition of the victim.
