A rain and hailstorm didn't deter participants in the second annual Jethro's Crab & Steak Feed which raised money to support local charities in the community.
The crab feed held July 9 at Jethro's Oven, Grille and Sports Bar supports MEFIYI, Austin's House, Douglas High School Leadership, Douglas High School Volleyball and the children in our community, according to Gardnerville resident JoJo Townsell.
"The evening's best entertainment was the dramatic hail and rainstorm which provided a unique ambiance to help us raise funds for our kids," Townsell said.
This year's event featured live music by Biggest Little City Entertainment and guest speaker former San Francisco Giants pitcher Ed Halicki.
There were 30 live auction and raffle prizes. Gardnerville resident Wes Wold won a $500 shopping spree at Lira's Market in Minden. Minden resident Mary Kay Dale won the $500 Scheels drawing.
Jetro's owner Dave Cinciala was awarded MEFIYI and Austin's House 2010 Man of the Year for his community support.
In addition to Jethro's, the Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge No. 2670 presented the event.
Townsell said the feed was made possible by sponsors Full Belly Deli, Sierra Canopy Rentals, JT Basque Bar & Dining Room, Carson Valley Sertoma Club, Topaz Volunteer Fire Department, Century 21 Clark Properties, Rite of Passage, GE Energy, Scheels Outfitters, Lira's Market, Ranchos Pizza Factory, Biggest Little City Entertainment, Douglas Disposal, Charlie Daniels, Model Dairy, NFL Charities and Professional Athletes Foundation.
"We also want to thank the support of Hamdog's Restaurant, Genoa Lakes Golf Club, Carson Valley Inn, Camelot Party Rentals, Kirkwood Resorts, Lynn Biaggini, Captains Keith and Monte Colburn from Deadliest Catch, Two Guys from Italy Restaurant, AM-PM Minden, Dave Irwin, Rhonda Moore, Douglas County Arts Council, Douglas High School Leadership and Volleyball students and parents, he said. "With special thanks to Cinciala, Mashelle Begovich and Stan Lamb who created this event to support our youth."
