Genoa residents are responding to a series of burglaries by meeting to form a Neighborhood Watch. The burglars hit eight unlocked vehicles the evening of June 29 in Genoa, taking weapons, electronics and other valuables. A similar incident occurred in Wildhorse on June 9.

One of two Gardnerville Ranchos teenagers arrested on a charge of burglary after a family member reported jewelry was missing from her home is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court this morning for sentencing. Benjamin Allen Cecchettini, 19, is scheduled to appear before Judge Dave Gamble.

A red flag warning has been issued for 3-8 p.m. Tuesday by the National Weather Service. Winds blowing 15-20 mph with gusts of up to 35 mph are expected today as afternoon humidity drops to 6-12 percent. The combination will create critical fire weather conditions.
