A Topaz Ranch Estates man is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court today in connection with drug charges. Joseph Roybal, 49, was arrested early Monday morning after he reported the death of his mother. When deputies arrived, they found allegedly found Roybal under the influence of methamphetamine and having trouble telling them exactly what happened to his mother. There was no sign of physical abuse. Roybal was booked in lieu of $5,500 on the charges.

Today is an agricultural burn day until noon, when the breeze is expected to pick up. The humidity is still predicted to be low at 8-13 percent, so be careful with fire out there.

It's supposed to be sunny and a little cooler today with a forecast high of 87 degrees. The breeze will pick up around 2 p.m. to 11 mph. As near as I can tell, we haven't had a 100-degree day yet this summer, though we've been close.
