Rory Reid, candidate for governor, and other state and local candidates will greet guests at the annual Douglas County Democrats' barbecue and picnic, 3 p.m. July 31, at the Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa.

"This has always been the highlight of the summer," coordinator Gary Kendrick said. Tri-tip and turkey hot dogs will be barbecued in the park pavilion. Boca burgers, beans, bread, salad and watermelon round out the menu.

Cost is $10 adults, $5 ages 7 to 12, 6 and under, free. The meal ticket allows for one bottle of water; a no-host wine, beer and sodas bar will be available. Gift baskets will be sold in a silent auction.

Picnic goers are asked to RSVP to Katherine Winans, jkw@gbis.com or 267-0539. Funds raised benefit the Douglas Democrats.
