Genoa was the subject of a weather warning on Sunday as a thunderstorm moved north along the Carson Range dropping heavy rain and peppering the mountains with lightning. It was the first time I saw the hydrologic threat go to 2 for Genoa Canyon, where the sensor was recording .24 inches per hour. We also had a 62 mph wind gust reported at Holbrook Junction.
The Pine Nuts were also getting hit. Fish Springs got a tenth of an inch of rain over the course of an hour. The Ranchos received .03 inches of rain. A hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service says we should expect more of the same today, with dangerous lightning and gusty winds of 40-60 mph. A red flag warning is in effect from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A Carson City man faces a three-year prison sentence today at a bench warrant hearing. Brett J. Davenport, 25, was permitted to go to a six-month Salvation Army treatment program back in October after he walked away from an in-patient treatment program. He was arrested in July 2008 for selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant.
