Douglas County Parks & Recreation offers activities and classes for children to seniors. Registration is required for all classes. Information at the office, 1327 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville, or 782-9828.

Summer adventure camp activities include games, arts and crafts. Snack included. Cost is $22 per day. Calendars available at the rec department.

Youth and adult tennis clinics. Students learn the basics of serving, footwork, volley and ground strokes in weekly beginning and advanced clinics held through summer. Call parks and rec for class times and cost.

Making sense of retirement. Learn to make informed decisions about retirement and investing strategies including basic questions to ask yourself to prepare for retirement, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 17 and Aug. 24, at the Recreation Annex Building. Cost is $10.

How to start a worm bin. Learn to grow vegetables and flowering plants in a chemical-free environment, 10-11:30 a.m. or 7-8:30 p.m. Aug. 4, at the Recreation Annex Building. Cost is $30.

Beginning tai chi. Warm-ups, exercises and repetitions, Saturdays at Lampe Park by the senior center. Cost, $5 per month.

Concealed weapon certification. Course meets and exceeds Nevada State concealed weapon certification requirements for handguns. Class is 6-9:30 p.m. Aug. 11 and Aug. 13 at the recreation annex, and Aug. 14 at the Douglas County Shooting Range. Cost is $90 plus a $10 insurance fee.

Natural health approaches. Receive a complete personal health evaluation and learn natural ways to support and heal your body with foods, herbs, supplements and remedies. Class is 1-2 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 3-24, at the recreation annex building. Cost, $40.

Yoga focuses on the body, mind and spirit with concentration on control, stretching and breathing. Class is 9:30-11 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays, Aug. 2-30, at the recreation annex building. Bring exercise mat. Cost, $40.
