The treasurer's office has mailed out 8,980 packets advising Nevada high school seniors they are eligible for the 2010 Governor Kenny Guinn Millennium Scholarship.
Reba Coombs, who heads the program for Treasurer Kate Marshall, said those students should receive packets by Aug. 6.
The packet includes forms explaining how to receive the scholarship and how to maintain eligibility once they enroll in college classes. The Acknowledgment of Award form must be returned to the Treasurer's office before enrolling at any Nevada institution of higher education.
That form can be completed online at nevadatreasurer.gov/MSAcceptance.
Since the program was created in 2000, Marshall said more than 60,000 Nevada high school students have taken advantage of the program. Qualifying students can receive up to $10,000 in tuition assistance.
