Douglas County's new Superintendent of Schools Lisa Noonan's first day was Friday.

Noonan, 49, who served as vice principal at Jacks Valley Elementary School from 1991 to 1993, said she was glad to be back in Douglas County.

On Tuesday she will attend her first official Douglas County School Board meeting to review how the board will deal with her and protocols for communication between school board members and the superintendent.

Additional items on Tuesday's agenda include revising the superintendent evaluation, reviewing board bylaws and reviewing the mission statement.

School board trustees will meet 4 p.m. at Douglas High School.

Noonan's $130,000-a-year contract started Friday and lasts until June 30, 2013.

She's taking a pay cut from the $177,000 a year salary and benefits she received from the Washoe County School District where she was chief academic officer.

Noonan replaces interim superintendent John Soderman, who returned from retirement when Carol Lark resigned Nov. 30, 2009.

The resignation came after months of turmoil in the district office between Lark and her staff.
