More than 200 guests celebrated and supported healthcare services in Carson Valley at the Carson Valley Medical Center Hospital Foundation's inaugural gala on May 15 at Genoa Lakes Golf Club.

The gala, A Grand Chef Affair, presented auction packages featuring local and regional chefs. The event raised $82,000 for the CVMC Hospital Foundation. Proceeds from A Grand Chef Affair will help in bringing digital mammography to Carson Valley Medical Center. The evening was also a tribute to Dr. Paul J. Fry II, who has been one of the driving forces in building Carson Valley Medical Center. Fry, whose family was in attendance at the event, was presented with the first Healthcare Legacy Award.

The foundation thanked local and regional chefs Victor Neza of Edgewood Tahoe, Jim Oglesby and Dennis Hall of Harrah's/Harveys Lake Tahoe, Robert Katausky and Clayton Slieff of Bistro Napa, Atlantis Casino; Barbara Mills of Back of the House Cooking, Alvaro Ochoa of Latin Soul, Lakeside Inn and Casino, Lori Baxter of Bella Vita Catering; Mark Claypool of Garibaldi's Ristorante Italiano, Leslie Dupont of Cafe Girasole, and Kevin Mary of Lira's Market.

Thanks were also offered to the event's Diamond Sponsor, Tahoe Ridge Winery, Bistro & Marketplace and Rick and Kathy Halbardier; Gold Sponsors Douglas Disposal and Sutter Health; Silver Sponsor Tahoe Orthopedics and Sports Medicine; and Bronze Sponsors Nevada State Bank and Tahoe Fracture Clinic.

A Grand Chef Affair could not have been possible without the generous support of the many donors in our community supporting our efforts.

Chefs Frank Stagnaro of Edgewood Tahoe, Rick Marille of Harrah's/Harveys Lake Tahoe, Howard Jachens of Tahoe Ridge Winery, Bistro & Marketplace. Joe Eidem of ACF/High Sierra Chefs, Rick and Gina Stephenson of Shakespeare Rock Cellar, Patrick Henry of As If By Magic Catering, Gilles La Gourgue of La Ferme Restaurant, Brandon Kealoha of Antoci's Restaurant, Christoph Waldburger of Barone & Reed Food Co., Gary Oien of CV Steak House, and Francesco Gazzana of Buona Sera Ristorante & Bar also received thanks from the foundation.
