Sunseri competes for Miss Nevada title

Carson Valley resident Ashton Sunseri was crowned Miss Lake Tahoe in an open pageant in Reno on April 17. She and 13 other contestants will compete for the Miss Nevada title in Mesquite, Nev., on July 3.

Sunseri, 19, is a 2008 graduate of Douglas High School. Her platform is the fight against peer pressure by involvement in positive activities. She started the Kids Against Peer Pressure program and works with Douglas County elementary school student councils to teach students how to resist peer pressure.

She was Miss Douglas County in 2008, so this will be her second and last attempt to become Miss Nevada.

Sunseri's duties as Miss Lake Tahoe include looking for sponsorships, speaking at a DARE graduation and getting ready for the Miss Nevada Pageant.
