Carson Valley history exhibit at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park

Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park presents the Carson Valley History: A Community of Cousins exhibit, June 11-13 and June 19-20.

The exhibit is open noon to 4 p.m. June 11-13, and June 19-20. Admission is $3 for adults and free for children 12 and under.

"The park's collection isn't just about the Dangbergs," park interpreter Mark Jensen said. "It's also about the many Carson Valley residents with whom the family interacted. This exhibit will show some of those connections and help visitors better understand the valley's past."

Exhibit items are selected from the thousands of historic artifacts, photographs and documents left by the Dangberg family. The display includes features on Douglas County High School in the 1920s and 1940s, and documents connected with many of the Valley's longtime families, such as birth and graduation announcements from the 1920s through the 1970s.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Carson Valley Days, an event first started by the Dangberg family as a way to promote the growth of Minden, photographs and other memorabilia from past Carson Valley Days celebrations will also be shown at the exhibit.

The park is at 1450 Highway 88, a half mile south of the Carson Valley Swim Center. A map and information at parks.nv.gov/hr.htm or 783-9417. Regular tours will not be offered during the exhibit.
