Kat Simmons' stand-up comedy class graduates with a performance Tuesday in the Art Bar the Carson Valley Arts Council building, 1572 Highway 395, Minden.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show time is 7 p.m. There is no admission for the show, but donations are accepted.

The last comedy show raised $550, which benefits the fund to bring a performing arts venue to Carson Valley.

Wine and beverages are available for sale at the show. The show is intended for adult audiences.

The students each perform acts they wrote and practiced over the last six weeks.

Some of the students want to go on to do professional comedy, and some just want to be able to speak in front of a crowd with confidence.

The class focuses on writing from your authentic self, and learning how to connect with an audience.

Simmons says that honest is funny, and encourages everyone to speak their truth, as no one else can be a better you, than you.
