What may turn out to be the last big meeting in Carson Valley on the county's water system consolidation before approval will be at East Fork Fire Station No. 1 at 5:30 p.m. today. Commissioners meet starting at 1 p.m. and have 3 hours 20 minutes of material to get through, so they should be pretty close to ready to go on time this evening.

It's appropriate that East Fork Fire Chief Tod Carlini will have his personnel review at the fire station today. Carlini will also present the county's emergency response plan to commissioners this afternoon.

This is the next to the last day to cast an early ballot in the primary election. As of Wednesday night, 3,312 people have voted early in this election. While roughly 10 percent of the active and inactive voters in the county, the percentage of turnout it represents will depend on what happens Tuesday.

Today is the last day of school for elementary students, who will be let out early at 12:30 p.m. Keep an eye out for the kids coming home from school during lunchtime. Friday is the last day for the middle school, with high school graduation 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The weather today will be partly sunny with the high near 76 degrees. The wind will be out of the southwest 5-15 mph with gusts of up to 25 mph. Tonight there's a chance of rain after 11 p.m. The chance for showers continues into Friday under mostly cloudy skies.
