I'm expecting to have the identity this morning of a man killed in an accident at Pine Nut and East Valley roads on Saturday. Meanwhile, I heard from Trooper Chuck Allen on Sunday that the NHP's Major Accident Investigation Team is working on the accident. They should be able to sort out any questions about what happened on Saturday.

The flood warning along the West Walker River has been extended through Friday morning. While the snowmelt in the mountains is occurring during the afternoon, it takes a bit for it go get down river, so the crests are at 2:30 a.m. Early Monday it hit 6.5 feet. The river is expected to crest at 6.7 feet by early Friday. We'll be watching for flood alerts on the upper portions of the Carson River today.

A Gardnerville man may be sentenced to prison this morning after violating his probation on a charge of child pornography possession. John Michael Parks, 55, admitted in May that he had contact with the mother of a girl he was accused of molesting. He was never convicted of that charge but was convicted of having hundreds of pieces of child pornography. Parks is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court today.

The Pony Express is expected to leave Old Sacramento at 11 a.m. today after a variety of ceremonies celebrating its sesquicentennial. They are only riding during the day this time across so they can accommodate celebrations along the way. They'll spend the night on the west slope and then should be at Woodfords around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
