Forget the tights, forget the formalities when TOAD retells the classic tale of "Romeo and Juliet" like you've never seen it before, June 24-26 at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School.
The age-old enemies, the Capulets and Montagues, have assumed different identities as the embodiments of winter and fall as the ill-fated, star-crossed lovers strive to end their families' ancient feud with the bonds of love.
A modern twist on this tale of woe injects the persona of Big Brother lighting the multimedia screens on the set bedecked with icicles and creeping vines. There is no shortage of action as swords cross, punches fly and a modern musical background punctuate the poetry of Shakespeare's play.
The Theater of Arts Discipline production is performed by students from Carson City and Carson Valley, who breathe life into a version of the story of the famous lovers never seen before.
Tickets are $10 adults and $8 for students and seniors, available at (775) 219-3577 or toadinc@gmail.com
Performances are 7 p.m. June 24, 25, and 26 at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Information, www.toad.vpweb.com
