The Carson Valley Days Parade starts at 9 a.m. today, but Highway 395 between Buckeye Road and Waterloo Lane closes at 7 a.m.
There are about 80 floats in the parade, which lasts until noon.
The parade lines up at County Road and Sixth Street, then marches down Esmeralda Avenue to Highway 395 and south to Waterloo, where the parade disperses. Douglas Avenue will also be closed for staging the parade.
The reviewing stand is set up in the Sharkey's parking lot, but if you like to just wave, or collect candy, anywhere along the parade route is fine.
A Web cast is scheduled to be set up at www.carsonvalley2030.org.
If you don't get up in time to visit the parade, there are lots of other things happening today.
Minden-Tahoe Airport is hosting an open house 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Douglas Animal Welfare Group is hosting an animal adoption 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the PetCo.
