The Angwin Family Foundation is sponsoring a program called "...Between Horses and Humans," that uses professional horse trainers to conduct workshops for children.
The workshops use a variety of methods to "create inspired leadership, honor and generosity of heart between horses and humans."
The Angwin Family Foundation is a local non-profit, 501(c)3, started in 2002 by Terese Angwin. Most recently the foundation purchased 600 of copies of the book "Three Cups of Tea," by Greg Mortensen, for the Douglas County Reads program. Two-thirds of the books went to public schools and the other third was donated to the Douglas County Public Library. The foundation also donated a horse trailer to the Douglas County Search & Rescue.
Earlier this month, Sierra Crest Academy students participated in the workshops.
All classes and workshops are free to participants. Anyone interested should contact Barbara Slade at 265-0901 or e-mail at angwinff@gmail.com.
