Athletes in varying versions of sport were in action over the weekend as part of the Carson Valley Days festivities.
The second annual 4-on-4 grass volleyball tournament grew by almost 50 percent from its inagural run while 178 people took part in the third annual 5K/10K Walk, Jog, Run.
The Carson Valley Days softball tournament fielded 16 teams and the Minden Ranch Rodeo had a full slate of competitors as well.
Results for the weekend's activities are as follows:
Aftermath out of Carson City won the 31st annual Outlaw/Carson Valley Days Softball Tournament. The team, which included Valley resident David Cruz, beat Reno's FBI in the championship game.
FBI included Valley resident Josh Thompson.
Another Reno squad, STB, took third with the help of local players Rich and Roger French, Steve Henriksen and Austin Graham.
The Carson Valley Days Grass Volleyball Tournament drew 17 teams in three divisions.
"It's a great tournament and we're starting to see it grow," said Douglas County Parks & Recreation coordinator Andy Braun. "Hopefully that will continue."
The Rich Harvey Show won the Reverse Coed Division (where men are not allowed to attack or block) with wins over Sleestack (21-8) and We Are Family (21-19).
Team members included Sierra Lusich, Alysha Carpenter, Rich Harvey and Marshall Hamada.
In the Open Division, The Outcasts defeated Forfeit 25-18 to win the championship. Team members included Doug Ramirez, Serjio Casteneda, Joey Jennings and Phil.
The Grass Skirts, which included Cat Allison, Denise Axelson, Erin Allison and Janet Duzan, won the Women's Division by beating Marmaduke 21-17.
The OE Bar Ranch out of Elko was the top team at the 10th Minden Ranch Rodeo at the Douglas County Fairgrounds over the weekend.
Asher Freeman, Barak Freeman, Michael Mori and Jess Jones made up the winning team.
Fallon's Lee Stock Horses, consisting of Flint Lee, Kenny Lee, Cowboy Rodriguez and Gansalo Carlos, took second. Sunset Ranch of Washoe Valley (Clay Dalluge, Brian Williams, Kyle Stone and Kevin Hancock) was third and Fallon's Still Tryin' Ranch (Clint Allegre, Jesse Nuttal, Tyson Torvick and Dennis Lee) was fourth.
In the individual events, G Hanging G Smith's Chance Gee won the Ranch Horse class.
Asher and Barak Freeman won team roping.
Still Tryin' Ranch won ranch doctoring and Sunset Ranch won branding.
Spider Teller and Norbert Gibson of Gardnerville's T 3 Ranch won Big Loop whille Lee Stock Horses' Cowboy Rodriguez won Saddle Bronc.
Asher Freeman was named the weekend's top hand.
Mendez Henares was the top overall finisher in the 2010 Walk, Jog, Run for Prevention 10K, recording a time of 36 minutes, 10 seconds. Jeannine Passas was the top female finisher in the 10K, coming in at 39:06.
In the 5K, Norah Gastelum was the top female finisher at 23:35 while Augstin Arroy was the top male finisher at 18:19. Full results were as follows:
