Staff Reports
Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park presents a special exhibit, "Carson Valley History: A Community of Cousins," June 19-20.
The exhibit is open noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20. Admission is $3 for adults and free for children 12 and under.
"The park's collection isn't just about the Dangbergs," park interpreter Mark Jensen said. "It's also about the many Carson Valley residents with whom the family interacted. This exhibit will show some of those connections and help visitors better understand the valley's past."
The items on exhibit will be selected from the thousands of historic artifacts, photographs and documents left by the Dangberg family. The display will include features on Douglas County High School in the 1920s and 1940s and documents connected with many of the valley's long-time families, such as birth and graduation announcements from the 1920s through the 1970s.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Carson Valley Days, an event first started by the Dangberg family as a way to promote the growth of Minden, photographs and other memorabilia from past Carson Valley Days celebrations will also be shown at the exhibit.
The park is located at 1450 Highway 88, one-half mile south of the Carson Valley Swim Center. A map and further information can be found at parks.nv.gov/hr.htm or by calling 783-9417. Regular tours will not be offered during the exhibit.
The Nevada Division of State Parks plans, develops and maintains a system of parks and recreation areas for the use and enjoyment of more than 3.3 million visitors a year.
