Women Entrepreneurs of Carson Valley meet June 24

The Carson Valley Chapter of Women Entrepreneurs of The World's monthly group meeting is Thursday, June 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carson Valley Inn, Minden. The group meets on the fourth Thursday each month for networking, lunch and a guest speaker.

This month's speaker is Cari Long, emergency preparedness coordinator for Carson Valley Medical Center. Long speaks about emergency preparedness in the home and business, focusing on the biggest disaster threats for Douglas County and how to prepare for them. 

Long has a communications degree from Western State College in Gunnison, Colo., and is a member of the Local Emergency Planning Committee, Inter-Hospital Coordinating Council, Douglas County H1N1 Planning Committee, Alternate Care System Planning Committee, Universal Badging Team, Environment of Care Team, and Nevada Rural Partners.

Long has launched businesses of her own, including paint contractor, house cleaner, and since 1998 as importer and seller of batik clothing made in Bali, Indonesia.

Monthly WE meetings are open for all to attend. Cost is $15 for WE members, $20 for guests. RSVPs are requested by Thursday, June 17. Those who attend without an RSVP are charged $5 extra at the door.
