A Gardnerville man received a suspended 60-day sentence after pleading guilty to battery in a scuffle with employees at a Gardnerville grocery store.

Tyler Scott Hammond, 18, told Justice of the Peace Jim EnEarl he felt his actions were incredibly stupid and that he wouldn't be back before the judge.

Hammond was accused of shoplifting a doughnut and a bleach pen from the store on Saturday. When store employees tried to stop him he started to struggle and was wrestled down. EnEarl sentenced him to 62 days in jail with two days counted as time served, to be suspended for a year. He was told to stay out of the store.
