Rescuers are responding to the vicinity of Sorensen's Resort in Hope Valley for a report of a vehicle over the embankment. According to the report, the vehicle is over the side of Highway 88. The initial report came in at 5:51 a.m.

Topless motorist Brandi Smith is scheduled to appear fully clad in District Judge Michael Gibbons' courtroom this morning seeking diversion from a felony driving under the influence charge. Smith, 41, walked into Scolari's sans top, took a bottle of wine and got back behind the wheel of her Corvette on May 10. She had a .144 blood alcohol content by the time authorities took her blood. It was her third DUI since 2008.

Also appearing for sentencing this morning is cheery check forger Charity M. Rife, who pleaded guilty to one count of cashing stolen checks in Douglas County. Rife allegedly cashed $5,000 in stolen checks, including the birthday check that resulted in her capture.

It didn't quite hit 97 degrees on Sunday, but it was pretty hot. The Gardnerville Ranchos reported a high temperature of 91 degrees, Fish Springs got up to 93 degrees. Going through the Weather Service list for the day, it appears Minden also hit 93 degrees.

Expect partly cloudy skies today with a high near 92 degrees, with the wind 5-10 mph gusting to 20 mph. There's a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.
