The mother of a missing 15-year-old Gardnerville girl is reaching out to her daughter's friends for word of the teen's whereabouts.

Kathy Hukari, mother of Morgan Karnofel, reported that her daughter ran away from a friend's house in Topaz Ranch Estates on Sunday night. Hukari believes she may be staying in Carson City with friends.

Morgan had been staying with a friend since June 23 while her mother was out of town.

According to a report filed Monday with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Morgan hung up on her mother Sunday after they argued about a party that was held in her Country Estates home without permission.

Morgan was still at the friend's Topaz Ranch Estates house when she spoke to her mother.

She reportedly discarded her cell phone, but took her SIM card.

Friends said Morgan was trying to get a ride to Carson City where her father lives.

Hukari told deputies she learned a friend picked Morgan up in Topaz Ranch Estates at 11:30 p.m. Sunday and dropped her off at 12:30 a.m. at Douglas High School.

The driver said Morgan sent a text message to a friend and it is believed she is in Carson City at an unknown location.

Morgan's father said he had not heard from her.

She was wearing white shorts, a white tank top and white flip-flops.

Information has been forwarded to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Douglas County Sheriff's Office dispatch at 782-5126. Information also may be called into Secret Witness at 782-7463 if the caller wishes to remain anonymous.
