Pedestrians on Main street were given a touch of excitement Wednesday when a man alighting from an automobile in front of Smith's store pulled a gun on a second stranger and threatened to let a streak of daylight through his abdomen because of an alleged robbery of a $1,000 in Reno a few days ago. Tonight the heavens will be brilliantly illuminated with a hundred massive skyrockets, sprinkling a show of gold, silver and blue stars. The final display will be one that will make every heart throb with patriotism. The big feature of the evening will be a concert by the Carson City band. You will see Amos and Andy in a row over the fresh air taxi cab, clowns will be there to entertain you. You will see the first automobile brought to Gardnerville run under its own power and at top speed. The big motor fire truck of the Gardnerville fire department will roar across the field and many other events will make up the program.

His fans never gave up, however, preferring to be in the presence of the charismatic Palmer while Miller Barber went on to win.

A conference of skilled artisans brought an exchange of techniques and the making of new friends as the California Great Basin Indian Basketweavers Gathering was held at Rancho San Rafael in Reno last weekend. You get that feeling that it's all for one purpose."
