The forecast for today is for heavy filing for office through the day, with sporadic filing through the week. That's right it's March 1 and the first day for folks who want to run for election to file. It's also when we see if the races that have already developed come together for real, and when they'll be held. The primary is in June this year. Then there will be a five month gap before the general election in November. The Clerk's Office is opening at 8 a.m., bring $100 if you're filing for a paid office. Remember to go to the old courthouse. The Clerk moved out of the Minden Inn last year.

A 20-year-old Topaz Ranch Estates man is up for sentencing this morning after being rejected by the state's regimental boot camp system. Bradley Stribling was arrested for breaking into the personal vehicles of rescuers at the Topaz Ranch Estates fire station Oct. 12-13. They caught him and trapped him in one of the vehicles. Stribling faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine for felony burglary.

The forecast calls for partly sunny skies today with a chance of rain tonight. Expect a high temperature of 59 degrees, with the low tonight dropping to 31. The clouds come back on Tuesday with rain likely and then possibly snow on Wednesday.
