The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is submitting a grant application to the California State Parks' Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Division for the 2009-2010 grants and cooperative agreements program.

Portions of the Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts are located in the Eastern Sierra in California and have this opportunity to apply for this state-specific grant.

The application includes a law enforcement grant for summer and winter patrols, and a ground operations grant, which includes maintenance, visitor contacts, and signing.  The summer portion of the ground operations grant will include route signing, some trail maintenance, and patrols. The winter portion will fund two seasonal Over-Snow Vehicle ranger positions on each District and include operations, signing, patrols, and education.  The patrols would primarily concentrate their efforts in the Bridgeport Winter Recreation Area near Sonora Pass, and Alpine County, including the Hope Valley and Blue Lakes' areas.

Humboldt-Toiyabe grant applications will be available for public review and comment through the on-line grants and agreements Web site through April 5, 2010.  The Web site can be accessed at http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/.  Public comments will be submitted to the applicant and the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Division.
