Patricia 'Pat' Marie Mahoney

A memorial service is 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gall Catholic Church for Patricia "Pat" Marie Mahoney, 82, who died on Feb. 9, 2010, in Gardnerville.

Mrs. Mahoney was born the oldest of four children, on Dec. 25, 1927, in New York, N.Y., to Kathryn and Oswald Rennison. She and her family moved to California in 1931.

She grew up in Southern California where she graduated from Corvallis High School, and attended Marymount College.

During her first year in college, she joined the Young People's Club where she met Jerry Mahoney. The couple were married April 10, 1948, and spent more than 60 years together before his death in 2009.

They lived in Southern California for 47 years, and moved to Gardnerville in 1994. Mrs. Mahoney was a dedicated homemaker and mother of seven. She was passionately involved with her children's schooling and their many other extracurricular activities. She worked as the school librarian at St. Pascal's School in Thousand Oaks, Calif., for many years, and was very active in the St. Pascal parish, including serving as lector and Eucharistic Minister.

She loved babies, reading, M&Ms, camping, roses, gardening and especially family gatherings.

Mrs. Mahoney is survived by a brother; seven children; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
