Rescuers responding to Cave Rock accident

Rescuers are responding to a 5:22 p.m. injury accident at Highway 50 and Cave Rock Drive.

Tahoe Douglas firefighters are responding to the accident, which was reported by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Numerous emergency vehicles are at the scene of the accident and motorists are advised to use caution in the area.

Chains or snow tires are required on Highway 50 from east of Spooner Summit to South Lake Tahoe.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Lake Tahoe through 10 p.m. Locally heavy snow showers are expected to continue through the evening with 4-10 inches of snow at lake level and 8-14 inches above 7,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters says motorists in the Sierra will encounter slick roads on Highway 50 and should expect travel delays.

In Carson Valley, there is a chance of snow showers until 10 p.m. with a total nighttime accumulation of less than half an inch expected.
