Entertainment returns to CVI

Live entertainment has returned to the all new Cabaret Lounge in the Carson Valley Inn. Entertainment at 6-11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, with no cover charge or drink minimum.

Jojo Hahn plays piano, guitar and sings standards, rock 'n' roll, jazz and blues, though March 11.

Jon Washington's Sounds of the Fortunes appear 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. March 12 and 13. The group plays Fortunes hits "You've Got Your Troubles I've Got Mine," "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" and other hits of the '60s and '70s.

Concert series continues

The Carson Valley Arts Council's fourth annual concert series continues with the Houston Jones Band with guest Joe Craven, 7 p.m. March 13, at the CVIC Hall, 1602 Esmeralda Ave., in Minden. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a no-host reception. Members pay $17 for advanced sales. Tickets are $20 for nonmembers, available at the door and at www.cvartscouncil.com. Tai chi begins March 16

Learn the basics of micro-cosmic breathing, qigong, tai chi walking and the 24-movement tai chi short form. Beginning tai chi classes are 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays beginning March 16 at O2 Wellness Yoga Studio, 557 Zerolene Place, Minden. Cost is $50 for the six-week course taught by Ginny Cardenas. Art courses offered at Lone Tree

Lone Tree Gallery in Minden offers classes and workshops by local artists in various media. Classes include contemporary watercolor with Don Fotine, drawing with Jan Rollenhagen, oil painting with Greg Drinkwine, pastels with Thaleia Georgiades and focus on composition with Thaleia Georgiades. Workshops include watercolor with Reiko Hervin and gourd art with Jan Rollenhagen. Classes are offered in weekly sessions beginning the week of March 23. Art show on display this month

Book signing at Borders

Dayton native Mark Alden Johnson, author and illustrator of the children's book, "I'm Up in a Tree," is featured at a book signing event, noon to 3 p.m. March 14, at Borders Books, 911 Topsy Lane in the Carson Valley Plaza. Ice Garden hosts outdoor skating

Two for one all-day ice skating passes are available for residents of Minden, Gardnerville, Carson City and Lake Tahoe at the Ice Garden at Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe.

The Ice Garden's 60-by-90-foot outdoor refrigerated ice arena is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, depending on weather. Ice skate rental/sharpening services, individual and group skating lessons. Special lighting and disco ball, outdoor fireplace and family karaoke. Information, (530) 542-4230.
