Former Minden resident Wallace L. Olson, 81, died on Jan. 28, 2010, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Gardnerville.
Born in Jamestown, N.Y. on Sept. 12, 1928, to Elton Olson and Ruth Astrid Warner, that's where he met his wife Jean Carlton whom he married on Feb. 14, 1948.
In 1957 they moved to San Jose, Calif., where Mr. Olson began working for IBM until he retired in 1984 as a quality assurance engineer. In 1987, the couple moved to Minden.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Jean, and brothers Elton and Kenneth.
He is survived by daughters Vicki (George) Walker of Gardnerville, Marsha Reihl of Tracy, Calif., Becky (Gordy) of Sparks; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Rachel) Walker of Summerville, S.C., Jared Walker of Gardnerville, Corey (Laurie) Reihl of Linden, Calif., Danielle Reihl of Sacramento, Jessica (Mike) Meadows of Sparks, Jake McGee of Sparks, Tracy (Joe) Paraza of San Diego, Jason Walker of Los Angeles; three great-grandchildren Morgan Reihl, Owen Meadows and Emma Grace Walker; two sisters Delores Rosedahl of West Elicott, N.Y. and Joyce Osterstrom of Hokkessin, Del.
Memorial contributions may be donated to the American Diabetes Association. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
