The Douglas High softball team had to battle through inclement weather during its season-opening tournament over the weekend, but they came away with a number of positives to build on.
Douglas went 1-2 in the Tournament of Champions in Sacramento and had two other games cancelled due to rain.
"It was a great weekend for team chemistry, but there was a lot of waiting around and it was tough weather to play in," Douglas coach Andy Mitchell said.
Among the highlights was a five-RBI weekend for first baseman Morgan Blomstrom and a two-triple, four RBI tournament for Katrina Morgan.
The Tigers opened the tournament with a 9-0 win over Fallon. Sophomore Chelsea Fent picked up the win in the circle, striking out seven and walking three.

Naomi Roberts then reached on an error and later scored on a single from Nikki Chavez and Kalee Duryee completed the scoring in the frame with a single to bring Chavez home.
In the second inning, Weaver singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Caras. Morgan Blomstrom then doubled to bring Weaver around.
The Tigers added another run when Roberts doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an error.
Douglas capped the scoring on a two-run home run from Blomstrom in the fourth inning.
Douglas fell 9-4 to Christian Brothers in the second game of the tournament, getting a triple and an RBI from Morgan and getting another RBI from Caras.
Duryee started the game in the circle, striking out two and walking two others.
The Tigers wrapped up the tournament with a 7-6 loss to Cordova, despite outhitting their opponent 8-7.
