Two California residents are listed in critical condition today after they were injured Sunday afternoon at the junction of highways 50 and 28.
The accident occurred at about 2:45 p.m. when a 2001 Subaru Forester driven by Rochelle Weir-Ford, 18, of Nevada City traveled through the stop sign on Highway 28 and into the path of an eastbound 1986 Ford F-250 pickup driven by Thomas P. Regan, 63, of South Lake Tahoe, according to Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Chuck Allen.
The front of the eastbound pickup hit the driver's side of the Subaru, Weir Ford and her passenger, 8-year-old Daniel Smith, were both airlifted from the scene by Care Flight and were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno for extremely serious injuries.
Allen said both are listed in critical condition today. Regan was taken to Carson-Tahoe Regional Medical Center by ground ambulance. His condition was not available today.
Allen said all occupants were wearing their seat belts.
