EDITOR:

On behalf of my family and me, I extend sincere gratitude to those who surrounded us with love, support, and sympathy following the sudden, unexpected death of Hector Molina.

Special thanks to Rick and Shelly Koontz for being there from the beginning, helping to arrange for the honor guard, the celebration of life, and numerous other acts of kindness, protection, and love.

Thank you to Dan and Leighanne Shirey for arranging for the flag to fly at the capital and for working tirelessly to help honor Hector and support the family.

Our respect and gratitude to the honor guards and representatives from Washoe County, Douglas County, Reno, Carson City Fire, Carson City Police, and Nevada Highway Patrol.

Thanks to colleagues and co-workers at Jacobsen High School, Meneley Elementary School, MOMS Club of Vancouver NW, Gems TV, Banfield the Pet Hospital, LifePoint Church, Reno Justice Court and Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center for the many demonstrations of kindness; from cards and flowers, to meals and phone calls, to allowing us time grieve.

To our many friends and extended family: words are not enough to express how deeply humble and grateful we feel.

Hector always felt beckoned to the Carson Valley by a force that was bigger and more knowing than we could understand.

We did not come here for any reason other than we were captivated by the history, beauty, and people.

We knew this should be "home" for our family.

While he was a true police officer and took great pride in his years in law enforcement and in his role as chief bailiff at Reno Justice Court, the best times of his life were with his family, Pop Warner coaching, and supporting teams of the many sports he loved at Douglas High School.

There was rarely a day that he drove to work and did not comment on the beauty of the landscape.

He called the Carson Valley and Northern Nevada, "God's Country."

Our grief is beyond belief. The void left will never be filled. Still, we would not trade the memories for anything. We know he had the time of his life. How green was his Valley.
