The R-C Morning Report

It's St. Patrick's Day, so remember to wear something green today. There aren't too many events going on. Most events of note occurred over the weekend, but I'll bet the senior center is decked out today, though. Anyone planning to go to Genoa tonight had better bring a dish or someone'll take a shillelagh to ya, I'm told. You'll get no more from me about it.

According to Thursday's commission packet, someone apparently thought the Costco was in Douglas County for the last three years and shipped $434,740 of Carson City's gas taxes south. According to the county's five-year transportation plan, we have to give the money back. Oh, and it looks like we're getting another roundabout, this time at the presently non-existent intersection of Pinenut Road and Muller Parkway. Commissioners meet in Stateline tomorrow.

I read a report by an outfit of Web government people that gave Douglas County's Web site a D minus for openess. They dinged the county for not having minutes available, which they do, and not listing county bills on the site. The county pays to publish the bills quarterly in The Record-Courier, which I think bumps them up to at least a C plus.

Are there going to be thunderstorms today? The odds started dropping as we got closer to the actual event. Now they're down to 20 percent between 2 and 8 p.m. Thursday's chance for showers is up to 30 percent. Today's high is supposed to hit 69 degrees.
