Former participants in the Valley Cruisers August car show have received a letter from the group announcing that they won't be conducting the show this year. There have been rumors that the show was going to be canceled for months, but the club wouldn't confirm them.

The Douglas County Historic Society is adding three women to the ranks of the Women in History 2 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center. Recognized will be Ida May Baker, Clara Hawkins and Sybil Larrouy Dunagan.

Commissioners approved body painting at Mont Bleu on Thursday, according to the Tahoe Daily Tribune. Not quite sure what else was approved. We'll pick up the rest as the day progresses.

The last day of winter today will be barely discernible from the first day of spring on Saturday. Expect sunny skies with a high of 63 degrees today, and sunny skies with a high of 69 on Saturday. There's a slight chance of showers early next week, but otherwise a pretty nice first week of spring is in the works.
