On Friday, Douglas County school board members added two more superintendent candidates to their finalist list and invited them for interviews Tuesday.

The board voted 5-1, with member Keith Roman absent, to add Thomas Hisiro, director of graduate studies in education at Bethel University in Tennessee, and Heather Henderson-Hill, deputy superintendent of Chinook's Edge School Division in Alberta, Canada, to the interview schedule.

Board Vice President Tom Moore voted against the measure, saying it's not in the best interest of the district to add candidates "just to fill a quota."

Other board members felt the additions wouldn't hurt.

"We have plenty to draw from, and I'm glad we have the opportunities," said trustee Cindy Trigg.

The two new candidates will visit the school district Tuesday. All public interviews will be held in the Douglas High School media center.

Hisiro will be interviewed by the board 4-5:45 p.m. and will hold a community forum 6-7 p.m. in high school room 402. Henderson-Hill will hold her forum 4:45-5:45 p.m. in the same room and will be interviewed by the board 6-7:45 p.m.

Today, Mary Bull, former superintendent of Vallejo City Unified School District in Vallejo, Calif., and David Jensen, assistant superintendent of Humboldt County School District in Winnemucca, will each spend the day in the district meeting staff, students and community members.

Jensen will be interviewed by the board 4-5:45 p.m. and will hold a public forum for parents 6-7 p.m. in Douglas High room 402.

Bull will hold her community forum in the same room 4:45-5:45 p.m. and will be interviewed by the board 6-7:45 p.m.

On Wednesday, Ron Lustig, principal of Eldorado High School in Las Vegas, will be interviewed by the board 4-5:45 p.m. and will hold a community forum 6-7 p.m. in room 402.

Also on Wednesday, Elisabeth Noonan, chief academic officer for Washoe County School District, will hold a community forum 4:45-5:45 p.m. and will be interviewed by the board 6-7:45 p.m.
