Time to update the Almanac

Information is needed by Thursday for The Record-Courier's 2010 Carson Valley Almanac. The Almanac is published at the end of May.


Walk of Hope on Saturday

The first CDH Walk of Hope is 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Lampe Park in Gardnerville. Cost of the walk is $25. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Proceeds of the one-mile walk benefit Breath of Hope Inc., in support of congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Donations may be made at Wells Fargo account No. 5053066451. Ham bingo Saturday

The Carson Valley Kiwanis Club's Ham Bingo is 6 p.m. Saturday at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Bingo cards 25 cents per game to win hams and grand prize of DVD player. Kiwanis provide popcorn, cookies and coffee. Hot dogs, ice cream and soda available for purchase. Information, Dave Jaeger, 783-3473.

Free health presentations of "A Healthy Family is a Happy Family," 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Tot egg hunt Thursday

Douglas County Parks & Recreation Tot Egg Hunt for children 5 and younger is 11 a.m. Thursday at Lampe Park in Gardnerville. Easter bunny available for photos. Sponsors are needed. Information, 782-9828.


Senior menu for the week

The menu for the week of March 29- April 2 at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville, 783-6455.

Monday. Liver and onions, pasta salad, scalloped potatoes, orange cake

Tuesday. Barbecue pork riblet, macaroni salad, ranch-style beans, cauliflower, cherry walnut dessert

Wednesday. Fried chicken, salad, bread, baked potato and sour cream, peas and carrots, fruit gelatin

Thursday and Friday to be announced.


Senior driving course April 8

The AARP Senior Driver Safety class is 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 8 in the conference room of the Carson Valley Medical Center administration building, 1107 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Cost is $14, or $12 for AARP members, payable at the start of class. Instructor is Irv Phillips. Those who complete the course may be eligible for an auto insurance discount.
