The Carson Valley FFA Chapter that is based out of Douglas High School attended the Nevada state FFA convention March 17-20. This convention is an opportunity for FFA members all over the state to compete against each other in different Career Development Events for the chance to go to FFA nationals.

CDEs range from events involving livestock and flowers to job interviews and business records. This year we had many different teams attend. Some of the teams were records, job interview, dairy cattle, horse judging, nursery/landscape, prepared speaking and floriculture.

Our teams all did well and we also had some teams place. Our horse judging team got second place. Our nursery/landscape team of Max Van Pelt, Chandra Matheson, Brianna Carney and Laura Joncas received first place. Chandra got first high individual and Brianna got second high individual.

Accompanying this win was our floriculture team who also got first place. This team was Kate Turner, Emily Garcia, Vicki Zimmerman and Diana Cordano who received third high individual.

We are very proud of all of our teams and all of our members. We would like to thank all of our coaches and also the Farm Bureau for everything they did for us. We wouldn't have been able to do it without them.

We had a great time at state convention and are excited for nationals this coming October. We can't wait to go and represent our home town.
