A late March storm may provide a chilly April Fool's Day for Carson Valley residents.
Stormy weather on Kingsbury Grade and Spooner Summit contributed to multiple accidents, but only one injury Tuesday morning.
Between 6 and 11 a.m., Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to 15 accidents, eight of which were on highways 50 and 207.
According to Trooper Chuck Allen of the Nevada Highway Patrol, four accidents snarled Kingsbury Grade, forcing its closure for about 40 minutes.
In all, nine vehicles were involved with the accidents. One person was taken for treatment from the accidents that occurred between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m.
There were also four accidents on Spooner Summit a few hours later. One person was injured in those accidents.
Highway 395 at Jacks Valley Road was the scene of another noninjury accident.
Chains or snow tires were required on Kingsbury and Spooner on Tuesday morning.
High winds prompted at least two power outages in Gardnerville on Tuesday morning.
An outage along the commercial corridor at 9:30 a.m. occurred when a fire damaged a cross-arm and caused the circuit to shut down, according to NV Energy Spokesman Karl Walquist.
Walquist said he didn't have information on the extent of the outage in Gardnerville.
About 25 power company customers were in the dark for four hours near Ruhenstroth when a power line fuse blew at 4 p.m. Monday. That outage affected the mobile home park located near the East Fork of the Carson River.
High winds struck Carson Valley starting early on Monday morning with Record-Courier Weather Watcher George Uebele reporting a 63 mph gust in Sheridan Acres at 11:21 a.m.
The peak wind gust as of Tuesday afternoon in the Gardnerville Ranchos was clocked at 47 mph at the Meneley Elementary School weather station.
About .04 inches of moisture fell in Gardnerville Monday night.
The National Weather Service is predicting a 50 percent chance of snow today and tonight. Accumulations of less than a half inch are possible.
