EDITOR:
We are hearing a lot today about precedence in law, especially in regard to the Supreme Court rulings on the Constitution. I have given this some thought and have come to the conclusion that precedence is a very bad idea. Let me explain. If I am driving my car and the stop light ahead of me suddenly turns yellow and I make the decision to accelerate, and suddenly it turns red and I have not entered the intersection yet, if I go by the precedence of the decision I have already made, I would not stop but continue ahead, perhaps crashing into cars crossing the intersection, perhaps killing myself or others.
I had time to change the decision I had made but after all I have heard that precedence is very important. Now, let's take it a step further. Let's say there is a time warp and someone else makes the decision to go through the light and that I am somehow placed into the car and the law says I must continue into the intersection even though I know that is a bad decision, but the precedence has been set.
Can you see where I am going with this? I am sure that those Supreme Court Justices who weakened our U.S. Constitution thought they were doing the right thing, but with seeing what has transpired our current justices can see that those decisions have taken us in a direction that was not intended by our U.S. Constitution shouldn't they be able to and actually obligated to right the ship and put us back on course. The idea of precedence is an idea put out there by progressives who do not like our Constitution. They have plied there trade of incrementalism to our Constitution and want to lock it in with a tool called precedence.
I am asking all "We the People" who the Constitution was written for to not fall for this scam. Write your representatives and let them know that precedence is not a valid argument. Our Constitution is clear and precise, liberal judges on the Supreme Court have taken us down the wrong road, we can and must change course now.
