Chains or four-wheel drive are being required on Highways 88 and 50 through the Sierra and on Interstate 80 over Donner Summit. Chains or snow tires are required virtually everywhere around Lake Tahoe, and south of Walker on Highway 395.

As of 5:24 a.m., the Nevada Highway Patrol was aiding a motorist on Highway 28 two miles from the Carson-Douglas line.

Today's forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of snow through tonight with accumulations of less than half an inch. The high today is expected to hit 43 degrees.

About an inch of snow fell in Genoa on Tuesday night. Kingsbury Grade was plagued by minor accidents and spinouts through the day.
