Neither of the top candidates for Douglas County superintendent of schools got a majority vote on Monday night.
Humboldt County Assistant Superintendent Dave Jensen received votes from School Board trustees Tom Moore, Keith Roman and Randy Green. But trustees Cindy Trigg, Karen Chessell, Teri Jamin and Sharla Hales all opposed Jensen.
Trigg and Chessell, who attended the meeting by teleconference, then proposed former Vallejo superintendent Mary Bull, but they were the only ones who voted for her, in a 5-2 defeat.
Board members then voted 5-1 to interview the two candidates who were rejected at an earlier meeting, Washoe County Schools Academic Officer Lisa Noonan and Heather Henderson-Hill, who is deputy superintendent of Chinook's Edge School Division in Alberta, Canada. Moore was opposed to the motion and Trigg abstained.
Those interviews are tentatively scheduled for 2-5 p.m. May 11 and 12.
