The man who drove a 15-year-old girl and her younger sister to California in 2008 prompting a two-state search for the girls faces up to four years in Nevada State Prison and a $5,000 fine after he admitted one count of statutory sexual seduction. Jeffrey Palmer, 41, is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court this morning.

Also in court for sentencing before Judge Dave Gamble this morning is 16-year-old Jimmy Holman, the only one of four people involved in the beating death of Terrence Howell who avoided prison. Holman's attorney said at a hearing last week that she was talking with juvenile probation officials to find a place for the teenager besides prison. Holman was picked up on his second probation violation.

Gardnerville Town Board members meet 4:30 p.m. tonight to finalize their budget. The town will also be discussing two events, a poker run to benefit Douglas Animal Welfare Group and an event for Main Street Gardnerville on July 17 in Heritage Park. The town board meets at the town offices, 1407 Highway 395.

If it's Tuesday, there must be a front coming through. Today, however, will be nice. Expect sunny skies with a high of 70 degrees and winds 5-15 mph. The wind picks up tonight and then will gust up to 35 mph on Wednesday. Not much compared to recent storms, but enough to be annoying. It's warm out now with 45 degrees in Genoa and 48 in Minden.
