The U.S. Department of Agriculture has $338,850 in grant money and more than $1.5 million in loan guarantees to offer rural small businesses and agricultural producers.
The funding is available to help rural businesses purchase and install renewable energy system and make energy improvements.
USDA Nevada director Sarah Adler said the program has already funded wind, solar and hydroelectric projects in rural Nevada. She said her office has just hired an energy coordinator to help bring more renewable dollars to the state to manage the program.
Applications are due at the USDA state office by June 23. But Adler urged those interested to submit projects by May 26 saying that will enable Energy Coordinator Mark Williams to assess them for completeness, strengths and weaknesses.
